The collaboration will see Santander integrate a suite of new point-of-sale (POS), e-commerce and integrated payments solutions into its existing offering, reflecting the bank’s ambition to strengthen its position in the UK’s competitive business banking market.

The partnership provides Santander Business Banking clients with access to a comprehensive portfolio of payment tools designed to meet both in-store and online commerce needs.

From contactless payments to advanced online checkout options, the collaboration is geared towards equipping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the infrastructure required to operate in a rapidly evolving retail environment.

Corporate and Commercial Banking customers stand to benefit further through access to dedicated e-commerce and implementation consultants.

These specialists will support businesses with onboarding, integration, and optimisation of payments infrastructure, offering tailored advice and value-added services to help firms streamline operations and scale efficiently.

Gerry Davies, Payments Commercial Director at Santander UK, emphasised the bank’s commitment to supporting British businesses: “At Santander, we are committed to providing the best solutions to help our customers prosper.

Our new partnership with Worldpay will give our UK customers access to secure and innovative ways to accept payments, alongside a suite of value-added services to help improve efficiency and grow their business.”

Worldpay, which processes more than 50 billion transactions annually across 174 countries and in 135 currencies, brings considerable global expertise to the partnership.

Its capabilities range from fraud prevention and data analytics to multi-currency settlements and omnichannel integrations — all of which are becoming increasingly important as businesses of all sizes navigate international markets and complex regulatory landscapes.

Chris Wood, General Manager for SMB UK and Ireland at Worldpay, highlighted the strategic significance of the agreement.

“This long-term agreement opens an important new distribution channel with one of the UK’s most preeminent banks to support more businesses with the tools they need to drive growth.”

The move comes as Santander continues to modernise its digital services and enhance its value proposition for business customers.

With 14 million active customers and a workforce of approximately 18,000 in the UK, the bank is well-positioned to scale its payments capabilities through strategic collaborations.
