Planet has announced its strategic entry into the global vehicle tolling market, aiming to transform how drivers pay at toll booths by unifying payments across online, in-app, and in-person channels.

Valued at $12.8 billion globally, the vehicle tolling market is ripe for disruption as operators seek to modernise infrastructure and ease congestion.
Leveraging its expertise in transport, mobility, and unattended payments, Planet is equipping toll operators with advanced, secure, and contactless payment technology.
Its integrated platform is proven to reduce transaction times by more than two-thirds, smoothing vehicle flow and minimising queues during peak periods.
The solution integrates high-specification Verifone and PAX terminals with Planet’s full-stack gateway, supporting contactless cards, mobile wallets, local payment schemes such as iDEAL in the Netherlands, and fleet cards.
Through its mobile SDK, Planet also enhances online and in-app checkout experiences, reducing friction for customers who increasingly expect speed and convenience.
Significantly, toll operators can generate additional revenue by enabling customers to pay in their preferred currency using electronic dynamic currency conversion (eDCC), enhancing customer satisfaction while boosting operator income.
